Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune (deemed to be a university) was established by the University Grants Commission, Government of India, under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, vide its notification dated 11th January 2003.2
Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune, has achieved a rank between 301-400 in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for 2025 in SDGs 2, 3, and 5.3
World University Rankings 2025: Placed in the 1001-1200 band.4
Ranking by Subject 2025 (Medical and Health): Placed in the 801-1000 band.5
Asia University Rankings 2025: Placed in the 501-600 band.6
Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune, has been accredited (3rd Cycle) by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.64 on a four-point scale at an ‘A++’ grade on 8th February 2022, valid up to 7th February 2029. Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune, is a 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and Green Education Campus-certified university.7
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted Category-I University status via the UGC letter dated 20th April 2018. Subsequently, DPU has been included in the list of institutions deemed to be universities under section 12B of the UGC Act, 1956.8
Under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, conducted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune, has achieved the rank of 4th in the Dental Category, 12th in the Medical Category, and 41st in the University Category in India.9
Under the Swachh Campus Ranking 2019 of Higher Educational Institutions, conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, the university has achieved the 9th rank amongst the cleanest higher educational institutions in the country in the category of ‘Residential Universities – UGC.'10
All the four hospitals of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, and Homoeopathy) have been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH).11
The Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute has received the prestigious DST-FIST, Government of India funding for infrastructure development and equipment for teaching and research.
