About BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) is a 5.5-year undergraduate medical programme that includes 4.5 years of academic education and one year of compulsory rotatory internship. The course focuses on the principles and practice of homoeopathy, a holistic system of medicine that stimulates the body's natural healing process using highly diluted natural remedies. BHMS graduates are trained to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases while promoting overall health and wellness. Admission to BHMS in India is generally based on NEET-UG scores, followed by AYUSH counselling. The curriculum combines modern medical sciences with homoeopathic medicine, covering anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, surgery, gynaecology, paediatrics, community medicine, and homoeopathic therapeutics. Students receive practical clinical training in hospitals, homoeopathic clinics, and community health centres. With increasing awareness of alternative medicine and holistic healthcare, BHMS graduates have excellent career opportunities in hospitals, private clinics, pharmaceutical companies, research organisations, government healthcare services, wellness centres, and academia. The course also provides opportunities for higher studies, research, and private practice.
