About BDS
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a 5-year undergraduate professional degree consisting of 4 years of academic study followed by a 1-year compulsory rotating internship. It is the primary dental qualification required to practice dentistry in India. The course equips students with the knowledge and clinical skills to diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases related to the teeth, gums, oral cavity, and jaws. Students receive extensive practical training in dental clinics and hospitals under expert supervision.
Eligibility Criteria
Must have passed 10+2 (Class 12) from a recognized board.
Should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB), and English as compulsory subjects.
Must secure at least 50% aggregate marks in PCB (45% for PwD and 40% for reserved categories, as per applicable regulations).
Candidates must be at least 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year.
A valid NEET-UG score is mandatory for admission to BDS programs in India.
