About BASLP
The Bachelor of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) is a 4-year undergraduate allied healthcare programme that includes 3 years of academic study and a 1-year compulsory clinical internship. The course focuses on the prevention, identification, diagnosis, and treatment of hearing, speech, language, voice, swallowing, and communication disorders across all age groups. The BASLP curriculum combines medical sciences, audiology, speech-language pathology, psychology, linguistics, and rehabilitation sciences. Students receive extensive clinical training in hospitals, hearing clinics, rehabilitation centres, schools, and speech therapy clinics, where they learn to assess and manage patients with hearing impairment, speech disorders, language delays, autism spectrum disorders, stuttering, and voice disorders. With increasing awareness of hearing and speech disorders, technological advancements in hearing aids and cochlear implants, and the growing need for rehabilitation services, audiologists and speech therapists are in high demand in hospitals, educational institutions, rehabilitation centres, research organisations, and private practice.
