About B.Tech in Leather Technology

Leather technology is a specialised branch of engineering that focuses on the processing, manufacturing, design, testing, and quality control of leather and leather products. It combines the principles of chemical engineering, material science, biotechnology, mechanical engineering, and environmental engineering to produce high-quality leather used in footwear, apparel, accessories, automotive interiors, furniture, and luxury goods. The four-year B.Tech. in Leather Technology programme provides students with in-depth knowledge of leather processing, tanning technology, leather chemistry, product design, footwear technology, quality assurance, sustainable manufacturing, waste management, and industrial automation. Students gain practical experience through laboratory work, industrial visits, internships, and live projects in leather manufacturing industries. India is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of leather products, creating excellent career opportunities for leather technology graduates in leather processing units, footwear companies, fashion brands, export houses, research organisations, and multinational corporations. The course also prepares students for entrepreneurship in leather goods manufacturing and exports.
